Join us to celebrate Hogmanay with live music and fireworks. Live music from local bands The Lorelei and Funk Connection will be played from a stage placed between Triple Kirks and Cowdray Hall with His Majesty’s Theatre as the backdrop and Fireworks will welcome in the New Year.

9.30pm – 10.15pm – The Lorelei

With a unique blend of rock, folk, indie, punk and thrash The Lorelei have been bringing pleasure to crowds across the UK since the early 90’s with their renowned, energetic performances.

10.45pm – 11.58pm Funk Connection

Aberdeen’s finest 10 piece Funk, Soul & R&B band will get you singing and dancing along to their classic covers. This sensational group play well-known tracks by popular artists such as James Brown, Jackson 5, The Zutons, Stevie Wonder and KC & the Sunshine Band plus many more.

Midnight – 12.10am Fireworks Display

A spectacular fireworks display to welcome in 2017 from His Majesty’s Theatre rooftop.
The best views will be from Union Bridge, Union Terrace and Schoolhill.

Extended Opening Times at Aberdeen Christmas Village

Event Information
  • Access to the event is from Schoolhill/Upperkirkgate, Belmont Street and through the Aberdeen Winter Village link pathway on Rosemount Viaduct.
  • Alcohol is permitted at this event due to the Scottish Government relaxation of drinking byelaw.
  • No glass containers or bottles will be permitted in to the event.
  • No fireworks or sky lanterns will be permitted to be brought in to the event. Stewards will confiscate items and report the confiscation with Police Scotland.
  • Public toilets and medical provision are available within the event.
  • Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.
  • No charge for attending the event, but there is a maximum capacity which could mean a restriction on entry could be enforced.
  • Disabled viewing area of the stage and fireworks display, stewards will direct you to the location.
  • Please do not bring animals to the event.
  • There is a link pathway between the Aberdeen Winter Village and the event which will close between 11.30pm and 12.20am.


Travel Information
  • Car parking – There are parking restrictions in place on Schoolhill and Upperkirkgate. Aberdeen City Council car parking will operate as per normal operating times.
  • Disabled parking – there are a limited number of designated parking bays on neighbouring roads and Back Wynd.
  • Taxis ranks – The rank on Back Wynd will be effected directly by the event. This will mean that taxis will only be able to exit Back Wynd onto Union Street until 10.00pm. A temporary taxis rank will be operational from 10.00pm until 12.45am on Upperkirkgate.  The night time taxi rank on Union Street east of St Nicholas Kirkyard after 12.45am.
